William Thoren is a Los Angeles based photographer, musician, and didgeridoo crafter. Mentored by Douglas Kirkland, his nature photography roots have shifted to include a wide range of portraiture. He is currently the active touring photographer for George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic.
As a didgeridoo performer and crafter, he is best known for inventing and developing the Multidrone didgeridoo and pioneering it’s playing technique. He tours internationally, teaching workshops on a range of didgeridoo techniques and performing both as a solo artist and with the band Gorangutang. Gorangutang is the musical collaboration of William Thoren and Tra’zae Lewis Clinton. They mix melodic didgeridoo with sounds of hip-hop, funk, and rock.
William is the architect of a large didgeridoo crafting operation in Agoura Hills, California which is home to Mob Didgeridoo and WET Didgeridoo. Mob Didgeridoo is a crafting collective founded by William, which consists of several crafters working together on various forms of contemporary didgeridoos and Multidrone instruments. WET Didgeridoo is William’s name sake brand of instruments designed specifically for the Multidrone technique.
